Many of us grew up with the frenzy of last minute preparations for Passover. In the past, and even in many very traditional communities today, the most important matzah, to be eaten at the seder, was baked on the eve of the festival, as depicted below in this book of Jewish Customs printed in Amsterdam, 1708, (Gross Family Collection).

Of course, this year everything has changed. Most of us won’t be gathering with our family and friends in person and many people who have never held a seder on their own will be preparing and setting the seder table for the first time. We have put together a check list [link] that we hope you’ll find useful. It might seem like a lot to do, and if so, please don’t sweat it! Whatever you’re able to prepare will be just fine. The most important part of the evening is telling the story of the exodus and finding relevance to our own lives today. In any case, please don’t hesitate to contact rabbi@orhamidbar.org with any questions.
Our on-line seder will begin at 6:30pm on Wednesday, April 8 but we’ll open the Zoom meeting at 6:10 to make sure everyone can properly connect.
